Installing A Ductless Mini Split In A Naperville, IL Sunroom

Sunrooms, sometimes also called Three Season rooms, can really add living space Installing A Ductless Mini Split In A Naperville, IL Sunroomto your home. Sometimes they are created by enclosing a patio or porch, and they usually are located off the kitchen or family room, extending the space. By featuring so many windows, they give a great indoor/outdoor feel, and people really enjoy them.

But because they are full of windows and often built on a concrete slab, they tend to be hard to heat and cool.  The windows tend to create a greenhouse effect, making the room really too warm, especially in Summer, and except on really sunny days, the poor insulation makes them too cold to enjoy many months of the year, especially here in Naperville.

The homeowners gave us a call to see if we could suggest a fix so they could get more use out of their sunroom, by making it more comfortable all year long. Our experts here at A-Guy knew a single zone of Mitsubishi ductless heating and air conditioning would be just the thing to ensure the homeowners got all the comfort they needed, every day of the year.

Problem: This Cape-style home in Naperville has a fantastic sunroom that the Homeowners wanted to get more use from, but it always seemed to be too hot or too cold.

Solution: A single zone of Mitsubishi ductless heating and cooling will make this room a favorite for all the whole family, all year long.

Why Ductless Mini Splits Are Perfect For Sunrooms

Why Ductless Mini Splits Are Perfect For SunroomsMitsubishi Ductless heating and air conditioning systems are high-efficiency heat pumps that can act as both heaters and air conditioning. They consist of two main parts- an outdoor condenser unit, and an indoor head or cassette. These systems are sometimes called “mini-splits” because of these two main components. The outdoor condenser is attached to the indoor unit with refrigerant and electrical lines, and can add heat it extracts from the surrounding air or essentially remove heat from the indoor air when it’s in cooling mode.

The indoor head is usually mounted high on the wall, out of the way, as you can see in the pictures below. The unit has advanced sensors that monitor the space for heat and humidity. It then adds just the amount of heat or cooling you need to be comfortable, and distributes the air evenly around the space, eliminating hot and cold spots. The system can even be set with motion sensors, so it can adjust the temperature and comfort level based on where people are in the room,  and go into stand-by mode when no one is present, helping to save energy when the space isn’t in use.

Mitsubishi ductless uses an inverter system, which you usually only see on very high end whole home HVAC systems, which works a bit like cruise control on your car- it can add just the slightest bit of heating or cooling you need to maintain the perfect comfort level you set with a handheld remote. This means you never experience big swings in temperature before the heat or AC kicks on, and the system uses the least amount of energy possible to keep you comfortable!

Ductless Mini Split Installation Process

The Condenser Sits Out Of The Way Tucked Next To The HouseOur experts here at A Guy were able to install this new system in one day!  We installed the outdoor unit on a small pad, and elevated, so it was easy to keep free of leaves and debris. We used line “hides” that look a lot like gutters on the home, to make sure the outside of the home looks as good as the inside!

When compared to traditional HVAC systems, these tend to take up less space outside, and the inside units are usually up on the wall, out of the way. These systems are also VERY quiet too, so you don’t have that same loud ‘kicking off and on’ sound coming from your HVAC system.
